The Vortex: Key to Future Science (originally titled Science of the Gods)
by David Ash & Peter Hewitt
The vortex is pervasive in the world around and within us. We shudder at its mighty power in tornadoes. Life-giving blood flows through our veins in a vortex pattern. Water flows naturally in a vortex, whether down a mountain stream or as it drains down our kitchen sinks and toilet bowls. Vortexes created by spinning gears and shafts power many of our modern machines and motorized vehicles.
However, this book, written by two non-scientists from England, is not about these common forms of the vortex. Instead, we are introduced to both scientific and metaphysical theory establishing the vortex as the very foundation of our universe—both seen and unseen.
Think about this: DNA, the design code for all living things, exists in the shape of a double helix, which in dynamic movement becomes a vortex. The spiral, another natural form closely related to the vortex, is found throughout the universe—for example, in spiral nebulae. The spiral is a symbol found throughout human history, such as in art and architecture.
The authors introduce several concepts that I found compelling:
- The primacy of movement over energy as a fundamental cosmic principle
- The proposed existence of super-energy, which moves faster than the speed of light
- Super-energy becomes the basis for establishing consciousness as the primary reality (vs. matter)
- Super-energy can also explain the existence of paranormal phenomena and multiple dimensions
The book contains relevant scientific theory, including the work of well-known figures like Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein. But even more interesting is the insight provided on the work of lesser-known scientists, such as Lord Kelvin and Sir J. J. Thomson, whose theories on the importance of the vortex were eventually overshadowed—or perhaps even suppressed--with the advent of quantum physics in the 20th century.
An annoying aspect of this book is the authors’ inability to resist throwing in the metaphysical and paranormal “kitchen sink”. Examples: bilocation, UFO’s, reincarnation, transubstantiation, clairvoyance, dimaterialization, etc., etc.—you get the idea. Perhaps they were afraid this would be the only book they would ever write.
OK, so what? What is the significance of the vortex in our daily lives? Well, as mentioned earlier, our very life blood flows throughout our bodies in a vortex. But it seems to me that the real essence of the vortex lies in meanings and dimensions unseen. Clearly, the vortex is one of Nature’s primary patterns. Perhaps we could look at it as the grammar of divine language. If it is, are we listening?
